Located on more than 1,300 heavily forested acres on Lake Wylie near Charlotte, the Sanctuary is a community of fewer than 200 homesites which are considered Private Preserves due to their size (between two and 13 acres). All are part of a land plan created with Audubon International certification for the preservation of wildlife, habitat and water quality. Nearly 25 percent of the Private Preserves are waterfront.
The Sanctuary community features a 17-acre lakefront amenity center with multiple tennis courts, swimming pools and picnic stations; an amphitheater and playground; a boating center with canoe and kayak rentals and day-use boat slips for residents; and the John James Audubon Lodge, which will include a fitness center, kid's room and an open pavilion. With 20 miles of nature trails, more than 200 acres of natural areas and a largely undisturbed, seven-mile shoreline, The Sanctuary truly is a nature-lover's paradise. Residents of The Sanctuary enjoy a peaceful, secluded atmosphere away from the day to day hustle. Gated entrances to the Private Preserves are welcomed and encouraged.
